Options for Atlas

Daily writing prompt
What’s the longest book you’ve ever read?

“Who is John Galt?”

That was the repeatedly asked question in Ayn Rand’s epic, Atlas Shrugged. Rand wrote Atlas Shrugged to resolve some of the lingering issues raised in The Fountainhead. Were Ms. Rand alive to write the epic novel today, she might have opted for the title Atlas Sagged, or Slumpled, or perhaps Shit in His Hat and then Wandered off into the Wilderness to Take a Nap. Either way, she’d likely amend the repeated question to “Where is John Galt?” And we would resurrect the goose that lays the golden egg just in the nick of time, as the poor dog has become a dizzy creature, subjugated by its own tail.

  1. It’s funny how Atlas has so many spiritual connections to so many alternate realities tied to revolutionary concepts. I see Atlas everywhere I go. I recently saw Cloud Atlas, a movie I believe was spiritually connected to the comet 3IAtlas. I also dreamed of the Atlas Mountains in the home of my Ancestors. I will check out the movie Atlas Shrugged. Thanks for sharing!👍😊

    1. I’m not sure if Atlas Shrugged was adapted for a screenplay. It’s better to go with Ayn Rand’s novel, despite the 1,300 pages. The theme of “Objectivism” is laid out cogently, and her central characters are easy to latch onto.

  2. I have not quite evolved to reading fiction yet, even committing to a feature films a big commitment for me. Hopefully reading your articles and the other gifted writers on this platform will help me move in that direction. I will put it on my bucket list. Note to self…read a 1300 page novel. 😉✅

    1. I recommend reading The Fountain Head before Atlas Shrugged. Rand’s novels are surprisingly accessible.
