Sir, Your Fly is Down.

Daily writing prompt
What have you been working on?

A couple years ago, I crept downstairs, went on YouTube, and blasted The Beatles song, When I’m Sixty-four. My wife was less than appreciative. Come this December, I, too, shall reach that age and will expect some form of antagonism to remind me that I’ve arrived. Moreover, as I traverse a seventh decade, I noticed my attention to detail has suffered. For example, recently, I strolled into a men’s room only to discover that my fly was already unzipped, no doubt from the last time that I required relief. At the end of a day, when undressing, I discovered having put my underwear on inside out. One morning, when taking the trash to the curb, it wasn’t necessary to unlock the door because I forgot to lock it the night before. I suppose if I had a car that required an ignition key, it would dangle from the ignition with the car running and the door unlocked. So, I’ve been working on paying attention to those pesky details considered mundane but when left unattended can make one seem simpleminded… or carless.
