And Another Thing…!

Piggybacking onto Tuesday’s prompt: What bothers me and why… it’s SURVEYS!!! Is there no place left in polite society where one can have an interaction that doesn’t result in taking a survey? (That wasn’t a rhetorical question; I wouldn’t mind an answer.) Every action, transaction, interaction, proceeding, negotiation, performance, operation, movement, recapitulation, service, gradation, and production must have assigned to it a corresponding star. We’re all being sent back to third grade, when Mrs. Sloane put gold stars on our papers if we handed in a mistake-free multiplication test. Before long, the AI-generated voice asking the question, “On a scale from 1-10, with one being the least and ten the highest, how likely would you be to recommend…,” will be more etched in our minds than the Oscar Mayer Bologna song. With the constant need for validation, rather than taking surveys, it would be easier if we all walked around with our pockets filled with dog treats. Recently, I walked away from Wells Fargo and had yet to make it to my car before I received a text asking me to “rate my experience.” My experience? It’s a bank not a theme park! Okay, I’m done ranting. Happy Thursday.
