Sir, I Respectfully Disagree!

The domain where public discourse goes to linger and test its wares has become too crowded a sphere. Moreover, the coexistence of legacy and social media has placed us inside a pinball machine operated by a wizard who refuses to let the small silver orb settle. In my humble opinion, we’re not wired to care about so many issues simultaneously; it’s breeding an anxiety laden population that prefers bread and circuses. I’m not suggesting ignorance is bliss, but many are paying far more attention to public discourse than their spouses and children; the “Age of Trump” and the “Reconning of the West” has diverted our eyes from the most important place: HOME! So, whether or not you’re a “Trumper,” you get your wisdom from Noam Chomsky, watch Bill Maher, or read Thomas Sowell, we should stop waiting for top-down solutions to save us and, whether you’re a husband, wife, parent, boss, or employee, work on being a quality human being. We need to preserve the vision of the West, not piss all over it because it isn’t perfect. If it’s perfection or utopia we’re longing for, we’ll get there soon enough. Meanwhile, we get to enjoy this blue/green orb floating around the sun.

In closing, I’d like to recall an old commercial: Ella Fitzgerald is singing, and the listener has to determine “Is it live, or is it Memorex?” We should all be asking the question: Is this truly my opinion, or have I been algorithmically duped?
